Part 1 – Day-time Market
What we gonna swap?
OBJECTS such as cloth, book, toy etc.
Brief:
We set some white boards on the wall and attach a mark pen on each board. Then we stick or hang some objects (2nd hand) on the white boards for swapping. (Objects could be something relevant to skateboard, such as skateboard parts or some collections). While people come into the lane way, they can pick any objects they like. Once they get one from the white board, they need to put another object which is from themselves on the board. And the also need to write a “swap record” on the white board by the mark pen. After this, the new item will become the next object ready for swapping by next person.

Part 2 – Night-time Market
What we gonna swap at night?
Voice.
Brief:
At the night-time, we gonna swap voice instead of objects. What we are planing to do is put a sound recorder on the white board and we record talking or some sound in it. While people come into the lane way, they press the PLAY button and they can hear the voice. As a swap, they need to say something to that recorder. And the next person can hear the last one’s voice.

your video is great, really well choreographed and played out in space! We have discussed last week what to develop next, unfortunately not that much has happened since. I am happy to repeat it: You need to develop a set of tools, or call it infrastructures, which will allow you to set up a day and a night market to swap a number of things. Can you work out what you need as infrastructures? Tables, Chairs, Hangers, Lights….? The next step is how can that be designed specifically for the location/site/context here? You need to adapt the abstract idea of a swap market into the specific context and develop it in response to this context further. Context includes the spatial specifics, eg the specificity of the laneway, as well as the social specificity of site as well as social or political specifics. How is your swap market different to others? How is it responding to the specifics of its context? What in combination with the swap market do you want to offer/develop? Please work in plan and generate drawings showing the location of the swap market, the specifics according to possibilities in certain locations (in some spots your goods might be arranged on the floor or tables, in others on the wall), the different scenarios for the market (day and night) and its specific design response.
Develop plans of the whole laneway, internal and external, showing what is happening/proposed where and in what form/design
