In our first week project Claiming the City, we were asked to wander through the city and document 2D engagement with the urban environment. I have chosen these three images as it greatly demonstrate different types of 2D engagement in different ways.
- Nature/Informal- The first image shows how the shadow of the tree formed by the sunlight engage with the surface of the building situated along Elizabeth Street. I believe this is an informal engagement because this was formed naturally. It is not a temporal engagement.
- Advertisement/Formal- The second image taken from the corner of Federation Square shows the formal way 2D engagement. The 2D engagement is through advertising on billboards and the tram. I believe it is not permanent as advertisement changes in time.
- Reflection/Formal/Informal- The last image shows the reflection of the sky, clouds and Eureka building on the glass window in East Shard located within the Federation Square. The formality shows the signage on the glass window ‘East Shard’ as permanent engagement and the reflection is not permanent and is informal.
