a day in the life of the 4th dimension

this video takes the viewer on a journey from suburb to city, structuring a narrative that weaves through examples of four-dimensional interaction within melbourne. these interactions can be between people-people or between people-things. filming these interactions highlights the city as a site of political agency and contested power.“the politics of urban space concerns not only contests staged in the city, but contests over competing rights to the city.” -fran tonkiss, ‘space, the city and social theory‘, p.5
in our video, these competing rights are seen in the spliced footage of buskers, protesters, advertisers and commuters all laying claim to the city.
